Behaviour of Steel I Beams with Web Openings

This paper aims to study the behavior of steel I beams with web openings. However, openings might lead a noteworthy reduction in load-carrying capacity beams, but can also be so supportive and essential from an economic point view. An experimental investigation nonlinear three-dimensional finite element analysis using ABAQUS computer program were planned conducted on six I-beams having same dimensions, different diameter ratio spacing, opening shapes such as circular, rectangular, hexagonal. Experimental results showed that ultimate load beam reduced increase area opening. A circular has stronger shape than rectangular because rectangle fast deflection torsion angles, it resists applied less Also, hexagonal is better are more resistant deformation The results, which validated against show good accuracy experiment. Besides, parametric presented here influence varying value failure midspan deflection. It noticed opening, had been tested experimentally modeled by Abaqus program, best case gives higher compared diamond, octagonal, trapezoidal, transverse, longitudinal ellipses.
